Welcome to the DYN Wiki

The mission of the Digital Youth Network is to facilitate urban youth in becoming discerning new media consumers and fluent media producers who use media seamlessly in their interactions with friends and family, at school, after school, and in their communities through the provisioning of in and after school new media programming. NKO students and their parents can register here for Digital Youth Network after school programs.

The DYN Wiki is an attempt to share our work in hopes of finding partners with whom we can collaborate in the creation of new media learning resources that are adaptable and useable by all.

Below are the curricular materials we have developed currently. The work is divided by the context of use: after school pods, in school media arts classes, and teacher-led content area units that assume a level of new media literacy by students.

After School Program Pods

Weekly small groups focused on developing youths' ability to fluently use new media literacies to deliver a message within a variety of mediums. Students self-select into multi-age pods. Pods are focused on developing depth of knowledge within specific new media literacies.

In School New Media Arts Classes

Weekly classes focused on developing a base level of new media literacy for all students within a school. These classes provide the backbone that enables core subject teachers to integrate new media literacies into their everyday instruction.
